Thing-a-Day Day One: Cardomom Sour Cream Cake

Thing-a-Day has come around far too quickly and I have to confess to having done very little planning.

This year I’ve started  with a cake that I’ve been meaning to make for ages, but have never quite made the effort. Now that I’ve made it I realise I should have tried a long time ago  as there’s nothing at all complex – just weighing/measuring, whisking, stirring, sieving, more stirring, pouring and baking.

I wasn’t able to get hold of ground cardomom so I had to de-seed the pods and grind them with a pestle and mortar, but the smell was a amazing so I’m not complaining.

The recipe came from Rachel Allen’s ‘Favourite Food at Home’ book but it’s also available online.
