So around about day 10, I killed my laptop! It took until about day 21 for me to get a replacement, and as a result my posting was a bit jumbled up. But I did make stuff every day –

Day 26 – Recycled Jumper Cushion
Some sewing today – I turned a jumper which my Mum accidentally felted by washing at too high a temperature into a snuggly cosy cushion cover. It was a 100% lambswool jumper with a lovely grey and turquoise pattern. After

Chocolate Kidney Bean Brownies!
No picture – oops! But this evening I made chocolate and kidney bean brownies. They kidney beans are pureed, and used in place of butter, with a little oil added. The end result was surprisingly delicious and un-kidney bean-y. Which

Day 21 – Sonobe Modular Origami
I made 2 modular origami polyhedra today using sonobe units. The large one is purely ornamental, but the small one is going to be filled with lavender, and become an origami drawer freshener.

Day 20 – Baking with Mini-M
Today (or yesterday now I guess!), Mini-M and I made muesli bread. Here’s an ‘in progress’ shot. Turns out wooden spoons are excellent for firing flour out of the bowl in little catapult-y piles. Cue many ‘oh-ohs!’ and hilarity from

Day 19 – Cushions finished at last!
Trying to get caught up on the posting backlog after my laptop had an unfortunate hot chocolate incident. New one arrived today – much excitement – and now blogging! So near the start of the month, I embroidered some giant

Day 21 – Coloured Cards
Tonight I used my last 3 blank greetings cards, and doodled on them with felt pens whilst watching some evening tv. The stripy one is my favourite.

Day 13 – Stegasaurus Valentines
In preparation for Valentines Day, my things today were, unsurprisingly, valentines cards. I coloured in one myself, and the supervised Mini-M colouring in the other one for her Dad, and she took it very seriously indeed. There was almost as

Day 17 – Origami experiments
So, shortly after Day 10, I poured a mug of hot chocolate over my laptop, and killed it. Sad but true story! A new laptop has been ordered, and in the interim I have now commandeered an emergency stop gap,

Day Ten – Modular Origami Shuriken
Today was pretty much a fail in terms of making stuff for the charity craft fair. I did cook about 40 smoked salmon, sweetcorn and goats cheese fritters that are not stashed in the freezer so will have to remain

Day Nine – White Chocolate Icing
So yesterday I made a cake (lemon and almond). Today I iced it, in pink and white chocolate butter cream roses. It’s a prize for a charity competition at my work tomorrow, so by tomorrow afternoon, it will hopefully have

Tonight I made a lemon and almond cake which will be decorated tomorrow night, before becoming a charity quiz competition prize for my work on Friday. And I also made some heart cupcake toppers, embellished with silver stars.

Day Seven – Baking instead of making
Today, instead of crafting, I baked, since tomorrow it is my turn to bring in cakes to work. I made Cinnamon Shortbread Apricot Slice and Pear and Walnut Bars. They’re all cooling down as I type, waiting to be cut

Day Six – Chocolate themed cards
The cushions remain unstuffed. Tonight I made three chocolate themed greeting cards instead, using a window punch and some old cook book pages.

Day Five – Braided Bracelet and almost finished cushions!
I did get a little bit of sewing machine time today, and got my cushion covers stitched and turned, however I didn’t manage to get to the shop for cushion pads, so they’re still not stuffed and closed. Tomorrow’s task…

Day Three – Oval Iris Cards
This evening, whilst watching Half Nelson, I made 2 oval greeting cards using the iris folding technique. It was fun – not too challenging and a fairly pretty result.

Day Two – Flag Cake Toppers
Tonight I made 60 hand coloured mini flag cake toppers, using cocktail sticks, sticky labels, felt tip pens and a pair of scissors. It was a no-frills craft, but satisfying, and allowed me to tune out my brain and hum

Day One – Chocolate Recipe Envelopes
I’m Thing-A-Day-ing for charity this year. Everything I make will be being sold at a craft fair on the 9th March, so I’m going for volume as well as creativity. For day one, I folded 26 envelopes out of pages
