Saw some fine examples of Baltimore’s wacky charm on our walk today, all in Hampden.
There is apparently a Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Link to website here. Devotees are called Pastafarians :) Well, this Hampdenite, right on the main street, put up this billboard on the side of his house. It looks a little worse for wear, used to have two eyes made out of wiffle balls on the ends of the noodles.
The rest of this other guy’s yard is full of sculptures, bits of garden, and, well, interestingness. I love this fence. It looks really simple to make, too, if you have the skill to saw the end of a wooden board.
Skateboarding is more mainstream than the noodly master but I thought I’d share this picture of the skateboard park. It’s attached to the recreation council building, next to a park with a track, baseball fields and a newly redesigned pool (the area for the little kids is amazing). Folks have made ramps, etc but there has been a nonprofit set up, Skatepark Baltimore, with the view to make a really great concrete skateboard park.
