It occurred to me that in all of our neighborhood wanderings we’d never introduced you to our little neighborhood. When I moved in, my next door neighbor had lived in his house for 40 years. His daughter lived with her family across the alley and his son and his family a few doors down. You know you’ve landed in a good place when the kids come back to live in the neighborhood.
The old timers from Medfield feel that people from Medfield are a cut above people from Hampden, the bigger neighborhood next door. Hampden has gentrified in the past 10 years so it is now a mix of old timers and young professionals and some of the young professionals have come over to Medfield. In general Medfield is quieter than Hampden.I think Medfield has more and is more comfortable with racial and gender diversity. Hampden has the retail strip of 36th Street (known as the Avenue) which is full of chic boutiques and restaurants, an all organic salon, etc. Medfield is only residential with mostly row houses like ours. There is an occasional suburban looking house in the middle of all the rows.
